a colourful graphic recording that was drawn by hand live at a meeting. the graphic depicts information about how to solve problems together the the content of the presentation was further supported by graphic recording and visual thinking. Graphic by Liisa Sorsa of ThinkLink graphics

These are visual notes that Liisa Sorsa captured during a conversation with a Community of Practice. The meeting was hosted by the Trillium Learning Health System Leadership Centre.

As you can see- the information is clearly mapped out in Liisa’s clean visual style. These kinds of “graphic recordings” are so practical and I want to share 2 major reasons WHY:

The first major advantage is that this creates a space for visual thinking. Yes, having an artist who is deeply listening and synthesizing ideas in real-time is engaging to watch but also offering visual connections to themes and patterns moves the conversation forward in productive and enthusiastic ways- a wonderful engagement strategy DURING the meeting.

The second major advantage is having a visual summary AFTER a complex meeting. Imagine how helpful visual notes can be to report back to your organization or to bring a community member up to speed who was not in attendance?

Are you a part of a community of practice? Would your meetings be easier to engage in with the help of an expert graphic recording artist, taking visual notes?
