Over our team call this week, we found ourselves reflecting—again—on why travelling to communities matters so much for the kind of graphic recording in Canada we strive to offer.

When we show up in person, we get to listen deeply. There’s something powerful about being welcomed into a space, hearing lived experiences firsthand, and noticing the subtleties that simply can’t be captured from a distance. Of course, virtual graphic recording is still incredibly valuable—there are so many advantages to having a graphic recorder join your meeting or event online. But there’s a certain kind of magic that happens when we’re in the room together, listening, connecting, and capturing the conversation as it unfolds face-to-face.

Here is Erica Bota, always ready to chat with participants and ensure their personal stories and opinions are captured on our graphic recordings:

Meeting people face-to-face builds trust, shifts the energy, and helps ensure the visuals reflect the community’s own voice. These sessions often end with hugs, which says everything about the mutual respect and genuine connection that develops when people feel truly seen and heard.

And honestly?
We value this so much in the work we do. ❤️

Head over to our Instagram to check out ThinkLinker Shannon Loomer’s most recent work.

Shannon shared how honoured she was to be the graphic recorder for the Justice and Policing Leadership Forum. The event was hosted by a non-profit organization providing a collective voice on issues of Treaty and human rights for citizens of sovereign First Nations. Being there in person allowed her to witness the emotion, nuance, and strength in the room—and translate that into visuals that felt true to the people who shared their stories.
